In the development of novel materials for enhanced photovoltaic (PV) performance, it is critical to have quantitative knowledge of the initial performance, as well as the performance of these materials over the required 25-year lifetime of the PV system. Lifetime and degradation science (L&DS) allows for the development of new metrology and metrics, coupled to degradation mechanisms and rates. Induced absorbance to dose (IAD), a new metric being developed for solar radiation durability studies of solar and environmentally exposed photovoltaic materials, is defined as the rate of photodarkening or photobleaching of a material as a function of total absorbed solar radiation dose. In a reliability engineering framework, these quantitative degradation rates can be determined at various solar irradiances making possible real time and accelerated testing. The potential to predict power losses in a photovoltaic system over time caused by the accumulation of this kind of degradation can be calculated for real time applications or extrapolated for accelerated exposure conditions. Three formulations of poly (methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) used for mirror augmented PV systems were analyzed for the changes in IAD after accelerated testing.

The article outlines the context of CALL development at the University of Ulster, and explains the basic concept of the Meta-Text program as an interactive notebook/workstation which is used for the teaching and learning of translation skills, but which may be linked to other exercises.
It gives an account of its various prototypes as it has developed over the last five years. Extensive details of the formal evaluation of prototype 3 (version 2.1) are included. A description of the functionality of the most recent version (3.0) is given and the planned future enhancements of the program are outlined.
On the basis of this incremental development, a set of software design principles are adduced, with particular emphasis being placed on the interaction of developers and users in that process. An assessment of the program is given, based on its formal and informal evaluation thus far. It is felt that the program gives instruction in key intellectual skills and, through its interactive and creative functionality, encourages the kind of judgement essential for specialist linguists. Its encouragement of the consultation of data and its capacity to accumulate linguistic material are also felt to be significant, as is its flexibility of use with different types of student. Although basically a selfstudy tool, it has considerable potential for various forms of tutorial use.
It is anticipated that further development and evaluation will bring to light other valuable uses for the program.

During the summer of 1948, from June 14th to September 25th, the authors made a second archaeological expedition into the area including Lakes Mistassini and Albanel in south-central Province of Quebec. The work was directed by Frederick Johnson and done under the auspices of the Peabody Foundation, which provided half of the funds necessary. The Viking Fund of New York City generously granted the remainder of the money necessary and for this both we and the Foundation wish to express our gratitude.
Traveling in the trackless interior of Quebec presents many difficulties at best, and without the generous cooperation of the Hudson's Bay Company and its personnel, travel would be virtually impossible. We are sincerely grateful to Mr. and Mrs. Fred McLeod, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Parsons, and Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Jeffreys, whose hospitality and genuine good will are in keeping with the best traditions of the Hudson's Bay Company.

As a result of possibilities seen during a canoe trip from the Ottawa River through Grand Lake Victoria and down the Harricanaw River during the season of 1946, the authors, in 1947, completed a second trip to James Bay by way of Lakes Mistassini and Albanel and the Rupert River (Fig. 11). This trip would not have been possible and certainly we would have missed many pleasures if it had not been for the cooperation of the Hudson's Bay Company. We remember with pleasure our contacts with Messrs. McLeod, Jeffreys, and Duncan and we are particularly grateful to Mr. and Mrs. Parson, Mr. Glenn Speers, and Mr. and Mrs. Archy Michiel for their unparalleled hospitality. Space does not permit acknowledgment of the assistance of many who took an interest in our journey but we must mention Mr. Carrier, the personnel of the Department of Transport, and Dr. Watson of the Dome Exploration Limited.
